30 autograph letters signed, 103 typed letters signed and 3 autograph postcards signed. The files also contain a photograph of Raymond Mortimer, 1930s; a photograph of Long Crichel House, 1950s; 2 autograph letters signed from 'Paul', 12 Jan. and 6 Feb. [1980]; and (possibly misfiled by Rylands here) a photocopied typed letter signed from Michael Cowdy (Bursar) to Lord Brabourne of Masham Productions Ltd. relating to David Lean's screen play of 'A Passage to India', 1982.

The majority of the Rylands Papers are readily available to scholars in the Archive Centre. Record consultation is by appointment. Personal letters of living authors may only be consulted with their written permission. Some material is reserved in view of its sensitivity. There is no access to such material for the time being.
