Visit of the Duchess of Kent in 1993, 1993
Scope and Contents
Black and white contact sheet of colour photographs, negative number 107293 but in a glassine envelope with a label for orders from negative 107296 which may be a clerical error. Photographs show the choristers wearing cassocks and surplices lined up outside the Chapel and a party of dignitaries with them. Probably the visit of the Duchess of Kent in 1993, see the photo on page viii of KCCB. SCH/74 has snapshots apparently from that event (though the date given there is not the same as the date given in KCCB), and says the party consisted of the Duchess, Lord Lieutenant of Cambridge and Headmaster of King’s College School, Gerald Peacocke.
Apparently taken at the same time, also included here is a colour photograph in a wallet-style mounting showing the Duchess of Kent and the Headmaster of King’s College School greeting choristers in their stalls in Cambridge, with Stephen Cleobury smiling with arms crossed standing in the aisle. The choir are wearing red cassocks and surplices. The photo has been removed from the mount and stored separately.
