Scope and Contents

The Cambridge Greek and Latin Book Club was an association under whose auspices members of the Faculty of Classics 'put in' titles of new books which were then circulated. Periodically bids for books would be made at an 'auction' amongst the members, in order to sustain club funds. Joyce Reynolds became secretary of the Club in 1985, taking over from James Diggle. The Club held its last auction in 1991 and its last meeting in 1993, at which point it was dissolved. The Club flourished when members were almost exclusively college based, thereby providing a social opportunity for classicists within the University to meet informally.
