Scope and Contents

The letter, sent from Burton Pynsent, begins by congratulating Mr Johnson on the "late addition to your family". Pitt expresses his desire to be the Godfather of Mr Johnson’s new born child and then enquires whether "Governor Hutchinson’s speech to the General assembly at Boston, together with their answer and his reply again have been yet published together?". There is also mention of the quality of some cricket bats, followed by the news that Pitt is now "enter’d as a member of Pembroke Hall" [Pembroke College].
