Later in about 1838 or 1839 Selwyn, who was then a private tutor at Eton, together with Edward Coleridge, advised their friend, William Evans, to purchase the house and retain his position as Drawing Master at Eton. The account of the purchase is related in The Annals of a house at Eton by Major Gambier-Parry (1907).

Arthur Coleridge, may well have been the famous Eton tutor and author of the book, “Eton in the forties”.

Two of Mr Green’s brothers, GEW and WHH Green were both at Selwyn College in 1888 and 1891 respectively.
