Letters from Mrs. G.A. Selwyn to Rev. E. Coleridge, 1842 - 1862
Scope and Contents
Comprises letters and papers chiefly of George Augustus Selwyn and also of his wife, Sarah Selwyn as well as Edward Coleridge and William Charles Cotton among others. The collection includes diaries of GAS, 1841-4 and 1857; a letterbook, 1840-60; and correspondence, 1831-72, including letters to Edward Coleridge, 1842-65, and correspondence of William Charles Cotton, 1841-7; sermons 1835-1878; also sketches and photographs; also a vellum manuscript from people connected with G. A. Selwyn whilst in New Zealand congratulating him on his appointment as Bishop of Lichfield and Coventry. The letters follow the system of arrangement compiled during the Australian Joint Copying Project in the 1970s. See below for more details.
