 File
Reference Code: GBR/0279/CPS 2/2/6

Scope and Contents

Includes the following: flyer for a visit to the MoD Services Electronics Research Laboratory, Baldock 17 July 1967; note of appeal for help for the National Library of Florence, 21 January 1967, in the wake of the flood of 4 November 1966, shown to officers 17 April 1967 but not put before the Council; suggestions for a programme for the 150th anniversary of the Society (upcoming in 1969).
Also: 19 September 1966, ‘Memo on the name of the Philosophical Library’, compiled by J E Larter, concerning confusion surrounding the name. Notes that ‘A surprising number of members of the University, including many scientists, are unaware that the Philosophical Library contains scientific periodicals’. It deflects essential information, such as advance notice of new scientific publications. The ‘misleading nature of the name is a positive disadvantage’. [The name was changed the next year, 1967, to the Scientific Periodicals Library.]
