Extracts from letters written by his mother Jemmima Aimee Allan, wife of Alexander Allan, to her sisters in Edinburgh, from India, 1879-84. 153 pp. Xerox. Alexander Allan was proprietor of Glenmore & Pillor Coffee Estates, Coonoor, South India. The letters of Mrs. Allan describe the social life and domestic incidents of daily life in an English home in India at the time. There is nothing political nor relating to Indians at all. (Other families mentioned include the Shaw Stewarts and Cadells, whose papers are also in the Archive Collection.)
