This prize was awarded by the State Science and Technology Commission of the People’s Republic of China in 1995. Joseph Needham’s name is engraved on the front of the award. The box contains a typescript statement by Ho Peng-Yoke confirming the importance of the award, a printed card with the name of the award and granting institution in Chinese dated 1994 and an information booklet about the National Office for Science and Technology Awards [国家科学技术奖].
