The gown has black decorations on the bottom of the sleeves and edges. Made by James Neal, Cambridge. It was probably Joseph Needham's 'ordinary' or Ph.D gown for regular wearing in College, etc. It is in good condition, so probably not very old. Includes spare doctor’s lace bands (strips of material with patterns).
