The gyroscope and bases are held in a wooden box with a label written on paper glued to the lid: 'Science Department. Parcel No. A 116. Gyrosope and Inertia Apparatus from Szechuan Provincial Bureau of Scientific Instruments.' The lid is detached from the box.
