Scope and Contents
The documents comprise 1 page of typescript notes from 《中國醫學史講義》[Chung Kuo I Hsueh Shih Chiang I / Zhong Guo Yi Xue Xue Jiang Yi], (Shanghai College of Traditional Medicine, 1964); letter from Lo Hui Min [?] of St. Anthony's College, Oxford, referring Joseph Needham to an article by 宋大仁 [Sung Ta-Jen / Song Daren] entitled 《中國和阿拉伯的醫藥交流》[Chung Kuo Ho A La Po Te I Yao Chiao Liu / Zhong Guo He A La Bo De Yi Yao Jiao Liu], (《歷史研究》 [Li Shi Yen Chiu / Li Shi Yan Jiu], 1959); typescript draft of a review by Needham of Sung's article, prepared for 'Revue bibliographique de Sinologie', (January 1964); Needham's summary of an article by 郭慶昌 [Kuo Chhing- Chhang / Guo Qingchang], criticising Sung's article; Needham's summary of Sung's response to Kuo's criticism; 4 photographs of pages from 'Tanksuqnamah..', showing the transmission of Chinese medical ideas, (The photographs were supplied by D. S. Rice of the London School of Oriental and Afrcian Studies, 18 Jun 1961. Joseph Needham refers to correspondence with Rice in the 'Cardan suspension file', (SCC2/99/4/5).
