Scope and Contents
The photographs were sent to Needhamby Rewi Alley. The documents also include an empty envelope originally containing photographs from Alley of 'excerpts from Ming scroll map of Yellow River, Huan basin, Grand Canal, Yangtze, and dykes and sluices'. The photographs have Joseph Needham's detailed descriptions on the reverse.
