Joseph Needham presented 'Time and Eastern Man' as the 1964 Henry Myers lecture at the Royal Anthropological Institute.
Under the title, 'Time and Knowledge in China and the West', it was Needham's contribution to a project coordinated by J. T. Fraser entitled 'Essays on Time'. The work of the project was published as J. T. Fraser (Ed.), 'The Voices of Time: a Cooperative Survey of Man’s Views of Time as Expressed by the Sciences and the Humanities', (George Braziller Inc., New York City, U.S.A.).
