Scope and Contents

Joseph Needham signed the original Volume 1 for Hugh Platt, son of Benjamin Platt (Lu Gwei-Djen’s supervisor at the Henry Lester Institute in Shanghai 1934-1937) around the same time that Joseph Needham received his Companion of Honour medal in 1992. The letter from Hugh Platt contains references to Lu Gwei-Djen and Joseph Needham.
