Photocopies of letters exchanged between Tshao Tzu-khai [Cao Cikai 曹慈凱] and Joseph Needham, 1964 - 2006
Scope and Contents
Tshao Tzu-khai [Cao Cikai 曹慈凱] built the Sino-British Science Cooperation Office in Chongquing. H.T.Huang's account in 'Explorations in the history of S+T in China' (Shanghai 1980, p.71), notes that the building was nearly ready in late Jul. 1944. Joseph Needham’s South West diary records arrival at the 'new house' on their return on 31 Oct. The first entry on 1 Aug. records 'fiddling with it [truck] below our new house', so they moved to the new office at the end of Jul. 1944.
