This letter relates to a celebration held in Beijing in 1959 for the anniversaries of Charles Darwin and Robert Burns. The Britain-China Friendship Association was asked to send material and Joseph Needham asked Cambridge University Press to send items. An exhibition was held in the Beijing Library.

The file includes a programme for the 'Meeting in Commemoration of Great Figures of World Culture,' 7 black and white photographs of the speakers and exhibition with a typed list identifying each one, commemorative booklets for Robert Burns and Charles Darwin and the typed text of the speeches.
