The inside of the red wallet is inscribed 'Needham, Grafton House, Oundle. If found please return' and the small pockets are inscribed '1 D stamps' and '½ D stamps'. The front cover has a panel containing a tinted photograph of a child descending steps outdoors holding a man's hand (probably Joseph Needham with his father).
