Scope and Contents

The purpose of the visit to Germany was to attend the ‘Time and Space in Eastern and Western Culture’ symposium, which took place in Garmisch-Partenkirchen from 8 May to 11 May.

The purpose of the visit to China was to visit the Buddhist sculptures in the Ta-tsu [Dazu shi ke 大足石刻] cave temples [near Chongqing] in Szechuan also the votive temple and memorial museum to pharmacist Li Shih-Chen [Li Shizhen] at Ch’i-chou [蘄州] in Hupei.

The purpose of the visit to Japan was to attend the Tenri International Symposium ‘Cosmos - Life - Religion’ at Tenri University from 13 Dec. to 16 Dec.

The itinerary was:
Macao: Nov. 1986
Hong Kong: 6-16 Nov.
China: 16 Nov. - 1 Dec.
Japan: 1-21 Dec.
