One purpose of the visit was for Joseph Needham to attend the 2nd International Conference on Taoism held at the Villa Tateshina, Chino, Japan. He stayed at the International House 29 - 31 Aug. and Villa Tateshina 1 - 8 Sep. The 114th Foreign Relations Dinner was given in honour of Joseph Needham at the International HouseofJapan on 12 Sep. 1972.
