Tang dynasty tomb figurine of a Persian manservant, c.618-907 [Tang Dynasty]
Scope and Contents
This is a Tang figurine of a foreign (Persian, semitic) butler or household slave. It was authenticated by Zheng Dekun 鄭德坤, a museum director of the West China Union University Museum (see relevant entries in the diaries of Joseph Needham and Dorothy Moyle Needham). The figurine is in general good condition with no significant damage or flaws, though the colours have been somewhat worn away.
