Multicoloured round pot with imitation Chinese characters, Early 20th century?
Scope and Contents
This is a multicoloured rounded teapot with a protruding node and raised patterns on the spout. The pot has a character resembling Chinese 双喜 but not exactly right, and light green spiral patterns and red flowers on body and lid. There are blemishes on the inside surface of the pot and on the lid. It is an inferior quality to original pieces, the severely malformed 喜 character suggesting the object is an imitation made by an enthusiast, possibly in the UK.
