Large wooden writing desk from Benjamin S. Platt, 1930-1969?
Scope and Contents
This is a large wooden writing desk with a leather top, formerly owned by Benjamin Stanley Platt. It is movable, supported by four wheels, and has three drawers. On the surface of the desk is a plaque inscribed with the words: 'This desk belonged to Benjamin S. Platt C.M.G., M.D. (1903-1969), nutritional biochemist Asia and Africa.'

Biographical / Historical
Benjamin Stanley Platt was a nutritional biochemist and a professor at Cambridge University. Lu Gwei-Djen had been a student of Dr Platt's at the Henry Lester Institute in Shanghai in the 1930s. Dr Platt also taught at the School of Tropical Medicine in London.
