Scope and Contents

This is a mahagony wood plaque that reproduces the page beside the title page of Science and Civilisation in China. It has, carved and painted red, '李約瑟著' (Written by Joseph Needham) on the right, '中國科學技術史' (Science and Civilisation in China) in the centre, and "冀朝鼎" (Ji Chaoding) on the left. Ji Chaoding (1903-1963) did the calligraphy for the Chinese characters.
