Joseph Needham’s file title is ‘Projected Book / Science in 中 [China] Today and Brit. Ass. Symp [X] 1967 / OECD Book 1976 RN’. It contains correspondence, an offprint of Joseph Needham’s Presidential Address entitled ‘The Roles of Europe and China in the Evolution of Oecumenical Science’ published in The Advancement of Science (No.24 1967-68), newspaper cuttings, administrative papers associated with the British Association for the Advancement of Science meeting in Leeds 30 Aug. to 6 Sep. 1967 and other proposed publications with Scientific American, Weidenfeld and Nicolson and New Scientist. It also relates to a request for Joseph Needham to write a foreword to an OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) volume on Science and Technology in China.

Joseph Needham was the President of Section X of the British Association for the Advancement of Science for 1967.
