The symposium was held in Oslo from 23 to 25 Aug. 1982, hosted by the Norwegian Academy of Sciences and the Hovedkomiteen for Norsk Forskning [Central Committee for Norwegian Research]. Joseph Needham’s lectures were: ‘China and the History of Gunpowder Technology’ and ‘China and the Origins of Immunology’. The file contains correspondence (including two letters from Dorothy Needham to Joseph Needham dated 19 and 21 Aug. 1982) and administrative papers relating to the visit (such as maps, tickets, receipts and invitations).
