These items were found in a cigar box with a note on the side: 'Old Notes on Books'. Some bibliographic references relate to Joseph Needham's biochemistry research, others relate to philosophy, religion, literature and culture. Some are written on postcards, envelopes, and invitations. Some have calculations or other notes on the back.
The box was broken but part of the lid and the side with the handwritten note have been kept with the notebook and papers.
