Scope and Contents
24. New Hall grounds (12 minutes, 28 Oct. 2003); 25. Ann Gower.
ANN GOWER, interviewed 4.11.03 (42 minutes), recalls living in Silver Street and St Chad's (1956-59) as an undergraduate and, after being a research student in radio-astronomy, becoming a Research Fellow (1964-67).
She speaks of her interview, and dining at Silver Street in the late fifties. She mentions some Fellows, and remembers living in Orchard House soon before it was demolished for the new buildings, with Miss Murray salvaging some fittings for re-use.
Ann speaks of giving supervisions aboard her houseboat, her wedding reception at New Hall, and her later career at universities in Canada. She explains how a research colleague named an asteroid after her.
Her recollections of Rosemary Murray include her excellent chemistry supervisions, and more recent personal visits.
