DAME ROSEMARY MURRAY, interviewed 1 and 2 June 1999 (239 minutes): ARM describes origins of New Hall site in Huntingdon Road, and its acquisition, leading on to work of Third Foundation Association and her appointment as Tutor-in-Charge, initially in the Hermitage, Silver Street; relates her appointment to her own university background and experience in WRNS; recalls financial support for the early College, including Appeals; in reflections on the distinctiveness of New Hall describes admissions procedure, architectural design and construction of Huntingdon Road buildings, furnishing the rooms, and discussions leading to granting of the Royal Charter in 1972; comments on style of tutorial and disciplinary support, and issues of welfare and student representation; recalls her involvement on University committees, leading to appointment as Vice-Chancellor, which led to involvement in other national organisations; reviews growth of the Fellowship, remembering several individuals, and mentions the gardens and early gardeners.
