The checklist includes novels, ‘novelisations’ of films, plays, and collections of verse, essays and stories. It does not attempt to cover individual short stories, essays, press articles and song lyrics. The compiler’s name does not appear in the text, but he was almost certainly Roger Boutell, a Californian bookseller who (so CH had told MO in 1953) ‘has all C.H.’s first editions – and everything he has written!’
