"The first printings of the works of Claude Houghton 1917-1953 with some notes on later editions", 1954
Scope and Contents
The checklist includes novels, ‘novelisations’ of films, plays, and collections of verse, essays and stories. It does not attempt to cover individual short stories, essays, press articles and song lyrics. The compiler’s name does not appear in the text, but he was almost certainly Roger Boutell, a Californian bookseller who (so CH had told MO in 1953) ‘has all C.H.’s first editions – and everything he has written!’ (MS Add.7994/776). When sending this checklist to MO (11 September 1954), CH reused the wrapping paper in which Boutell had sent it to him.
