The Chronicle was established in 1867 as a weekly newspaper under the direction of T.F. Wetherell. Sir Rowland Blennerhassett provided the funds, with the support of Sir John Dalberg (later Lord Acton).

Together with loose issues of 'Allgemeine Zeitung' for 1872 (2 Feb. - 22 Mar. 1872) and loose issues of 'Suddeutscher Telegraph' (No.183, 3 August 1872 - No.185, 6 August 1872). Also included as inserts are two black-and-white portrait photographs, possibly of Charlotte Lady Blennerhassett.
