Scope and Contents
Album of photographs of Mauritius, most measuring 80 x 50 mm. The first page has the stencilled title 'Souvenir de I'Ile Maurice' over an outline map of Mauritius with typed place names. On one side is written 'Madame M. Silberman avec les hommages de. S. Ly-Tio-Fane.' On the left is typed 'IMPORTANT. Les references et extraits qui s'y trouvent sont du livre Port-Luis, Deux Siecles d’Histoire, de A. Toussaint.' Toussaint's book appeared in 1936 and the photographs were probably taken not long after that date. They appear to be amateur snapshots, of good quality, if somewhat small for the buildings and scenery which are the main subjects. All are deckle-edged and mounted with silver corners.
