Scope and Contents
Collection of 91 glass negatives, 106 x 80 mm; 3 negatives on film, 90 x 60 mm; and 3 modern prints, 150 x 120 mm. Many of the negatives lack descriptive captions. The captions have been used as titles and have been recorded as found. Titles composed by the cataloguer are enclosed in square brackets.

Biographical / Historical
H.I.A. Wimberley was born on 16 January 1868, educated at King's School, Canterbury and Keble College, Oxford. After holding the post of Headmaster of Northallerton Grammar School he joined the Colonial Service in 1903 as Inspector of Schools, Lagos. He was Provincial Inspector of Schools, Central Province 1910-1918, save for March-July 1910 when he was Acting Director of Education. He retired in 1918 and died on 28 January 1945.

The negatives were given by H.C.A. Wimberley, son of H.I.A. Wimberley, sometime between 1966 and 1970.
