Photograph, measuring 200 x 150 mm, inserted in volume of papers (RCMS 149) presented to Randall Ellison by the Kaduna-Zaria branch of the Historical Society of Nigeria.
The photograph shows Alhaji Umaru Gwandu presenting the volume to Randall Ellison at the AGM of the Branch on 19 February 1961. Randall Erskine Ellison, C.M.G. (1904-1984) served in various educational posts in British Somaliland, Tanganyika and Nigeria. He was Chairman of the Public Service Commission, Northern Nigeria, from 1958 until he retired in 1961. Umuru Gwandu, born circa 1912, was the great-grandson of Abdullahi dan Fodio, 1st Emir of Gwandu. He was Clerk to the Houses of the Northern Nigeria Regional Legislature 1952.
