Biographical / Historical

Robert Kirk (1905-1962) joined the Sudan Medical Service in 1933, eventually becoming Director of the Wellcome and Stack Laboratories. In 1952 he was appointed Professor of Pathology in the University of Khartoum, and later Dean of the Medical Faculty. In 1955 he went to Malaya, and thence to Hong Kong, where he died in 1962.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The papers were found among Kirk's effects after his death. They were presented to the R.C.S. by Professor J.B. Gibson, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Hong Kong, through Dr K.E. Robinson, February 1977.
