The collection contains manuscript, typescript and word-processed copies of literary and critical works by Harris; correspondence, including copies of letters from Harris; typescript and word-processed copies of writings by third parties, many concerning Harris and his work or Caribbean literature; miscellaneous documents, including printed matter; personalia and artworks; and audio-visual material in analogue and digital media.

The collection contains personal correspondence. The provisions of the Data Protection Act (1998) apply to access.
