Down House manuscripts: correspondence, mainly from Charles Darwin, 1815 - 1882
Scope and Contents
This class comprises correspondence, mainly from Charles Darwin, to close friends and fellow scientists including William Ogle, William Carpenter, John Lubbock, John Tyndall, Andrew Crombie Ramsay and Daniel Oliver. Also included is a small collection of correspondence of the Galton family, Erasmus Galton and Emma Sophie Galton, who were half-cousins of Charles Darwin. Numbers 1, 2 and 4 are unassigned.
