Comprises: DAR 39.1: 1-67: Letters to Charles Darwin; DAR 39.1: 68-89: Beagle geological specimen notes; DAR 39.2: 90-116: notes on Beagle fossil shells and geological specimens; DAR 39.2: 117 -215: loose notes, including reading notes, specimen lists and drawings on Beagle geological and paleontological subjects (many of Beagle period, some post-Beagle), including excised note book pages.
