Ruth Darwin Letters: 1911, Feb-Apr. 1911
Scope and Contents
Thirteen letters sent from Ruth Darwin to Ida Darwin dated 8 February-[April] 1911, including a single letter from Ruth's cousin Frances 'Fanny' Margaret Farrer (1895-1977) and from Ruth's step-grandmother Katherine Euphemia Farrer, the latter is partially written in a type of speed writing.
The letters make reference to Ruth's charitable work including her involvement with the Guild of Help, her social activities, and her thoughts on various friends and acquaintances in and around Middlesbrough.
Note: the Middlesbrough Guild of Help was established in 1909. Erasmus Darwin served on the Finance Committee and was appointed Honorary Treasurer in February 1911.
