ADAM, Jeanie, 1 Nov. 1902 and no date
Scope and Contents
Contains two letters from Jeanie Adam to Ida Darwin. The first is dated 1 November 1902 and was sent from Abinger Hall, Dorking, the family home of Ida's father. The letter gives news of Ida's two nieces, Frances Margaret 'Fanny' Farrer (1895-1977) and Katherine Dianthe 'Kitty' Farrer (1896-1986) and encloses a letter from Kitty to Ida. It is known that Fanny and Kitty spent some time in the Cambridge home of Ida and Horace Darwin following the death of their mother Evelyn Mary (née Spring) in 1898. Jeanie Adam was employed by the Farrer family as a governess.
A second (undated) letter from Jeanie to Ida was sent post-1902 from Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, thanking Ida for the kindness she has shown her.
