‘Rupert of Hentzau’ play script by Anthony Hope, [c.1898-1900]
Scope and Contents
Comprises a typed script with a few annotations for “Rupert of Hentzau: A Play in Four Acts. By Anthony Hope (Founded on a story written by the same writer, and bearing the same title).”
This was a sequel to ‘The Prince of Zenda’.
The play opened at the St James’s Theatre, London and ran for 51 performances from 1 Feb 1900 to 4 April 1900. According to ‘The London Stage 1900-1909: A Calendar of Plays and Players’ by Wearing, it was “an unsuccessful sequel to Edward Rose’s The Prisoner of Zenda”.
The novel, ‘Rupert of Hentzau’ was published in 1898.
