Letter to Adam, Walter, 23 Sept. 1935
Scope and Contents
In reply to the previous letter [Mark Oliphant] writes to Walter Adams that Oskar Heil is not a Jew and it is not for thar reason he wishes to spend a year in the Cavendish. Heil is of independent means and has been accepted by the Laboratory. Frau [Agnesa Arsenjewa] Heil is Russian and that is the reason for the difficulty with the Home Office. She has applied for a visa and has been refused and [Oliphant] was asked to write to explain the situation to the Home Office. Asks that Adams recommends that a 12 months' permit be granted.
