Scope and Contents
Notes in Parkes' hand, mostly concerning the Loochoo Islands (Ryukyu Islands), including a reference to Admiralty Chart 2412 (China: The Islands Between Formosa and Japan with the Adjacent Coast of China, London, 1868), as well as to Saigo (Takamori?), 'Shimadzu' (Shimazu Hisamitsu?), and William Yates, undated (possibly 1877 or earlier), 4 bifolios. There are also undated items in Japanese: a list of the names and titles of three Loochooan officials (possibly from between 1872 and 1879), 1 folio; a bill for food, 1 folio; and three calling cards of officials in the Department of the Interior, 3 folios.
