Scope and Contents
Printed reports, memorials, notices and circulars relating to chambers of commerce in Colombo, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Singapore. The papers includes documents by the Hongkong General Chamber of Commerce on the Chinese Custom House system, 1861; copies of a 'Memorial from the British Chamber of Commerce, Shanghae, to his Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, relative to the regulation of trade in the Yang-tsze-kiang River', 1862; 'English & Chinese translations of the report on the deterioration of Chinese Silks, Season 1871. Addressed by the Council of the Association of Silk Merchants at Lyons to the Shanghai Chamber of Commerce', 1872; 'Letter on mildewed shirtings from the Shanghai General Chamber of Commerce to the Manchester Chamber of Commerce', 1872; 'Report of the Committee of the Hongkong General Chamber of Commerce, for the year ending December 31st, 1872', 1873; and 'Correspondence relating to the Inland Transit Pass System as connected with the West Coast of China.
