Scope and Contents

An exercise book containing notes by James Steuart on the Beale Family Papers, made at the India Office Library. The notes are undated, with the exception of one set of notes dated March 1933. Loose inside the volume are four typescript pages comprised of a copy of an undated letter from Francis Magniac to Daniel Beale and a borrowing slip of the Library of the Corporation of the City of London for H. Ellis, 'Embassy to China' (1817), borrowed by Steuart on 11 May (no year). The volume is labelled on the front cover 'Beale Family Papers. Researches at India Office Library'.
