Scope and Contents
The ring-binder is labelled '5. Property: Japan - Yokohama', and is divided into five sections:
1. General: extracts from property letters no. P.14 from Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong, to Jardine Matheson, Tokyo, 4 May 1949, and no. P.23 from Tokyo to Hong Kong, 11 May 1949.
2. 32, Asahi-dai: correspondence (mostly extracts) between Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong and Tokyo, with related letters and papers, 23 August-28 December 1949.
3. 20, Asahi-dai, Negishi: correspondence (mostly extracts) between Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong and Tokyo, with related letters, 18 January 1948-31 December 1949.
4. Yokohama Lots 23 and 23, Yamashitacho: correspondence (including telegrams and extracts of letters) between Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tokyo, with related letters, including correspondence between Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong, and R.G. Bell, Vancouver; Chartered Bank of India, Australia & China, Hong Kong; and Balfour, Guthrie & Co. Ltd, San Francisco, 3 January 1948-1 July 1949.
5. Canadian Pacific Steamships Ltd Building: correspondence (including telegrams) between Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tokyo, with related letters, including correspondence between Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong, and Canadian Pacific Steamships Ltd, Hong Kong, 14 January 1948-6 May 1949.
