Scope and Contents

Property correspondence between Jardine Matheson, Canton, Hankow, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Taipei, with enclosed letters and papers. Some letters have been transferred to other files, but there are sheets listing their contents.

HONG KONG AND CANTON

1. Original letters nos P.1-25 from Conant Lee, Canton, to R. Gordon and (mainly) J.H. Keswick, 14 January-29 December 1953.

2. Copies of letters nos P.1-15 from R. Gordon and J.H. Keswick, Hong Kong, to Conant Lee, Canton, 31 January-3 November 1953.

The subjects covered include fire insurance for Canton properties; Fook Hing Road Godown, including leasing to Kwangtung Sugar Mills Ltd and the Shameen Cooperative Store; Godown Building 'C', Tai Chung Hau; Shameen property; Shameen quarters, including accommodation for the typist Mrs D.P. Wong; and the Tai Chung Hau godowns, including the joint account with Tai Hwa Hong.

SHANGHAI AND HANKOW

1. Sheets listing the contents of letters nos HP.99-125 from Hankow to Shanghai, 10 January-9 December 1953, transferred to other files.
