Scope and Contents
Property correspondence between Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong and Tokyo, with enclosed letters and papers:
1. Copies of letters nos P.1-47 from R. Gordon and D.F. Landale, Hong Kong, to F.A. Pollock and (mainly) M.L. Railton, Tokyo, 6 January-31 December 1949.
2. Original letters nos P.1-65 from M.L. Railton (mainly) and F.A. Pollock, Tokyo, to R. Gordon (mainly) and D.F. Landale, Hong Kong, 4 January-28 December 1949.
3. Original letters nos P.1-16, 16A, 16B and 17-19 from M.L. Railton, Tokyo, to D.F. Landale, Hong Kong, 18 January-4 December 1948. Nos 16A and 16B were formerly semi-official letters nos 52 and 54, and have been renumbered in pen.
4. Copies of letters nos P.1-20 from R. Gordon and (mainly) D.F. Landale, Hong Kong, to M.L. Railton, Tokyo, 14 January-30 December 1948.
At the start of the volume are copies of letter no. P.1 from J.H. Keswick, Shanghai, to M.L. Railton, Tokyo, 25 March 1949, and Railton's unnumbered reply of 2 April 1949, regarding Japan property.
