Scope and Contents
Copies of property letters nos P.65-96, 98-108, 110-133 and 135-269 from R.M. Austin, B.D.F. Beith, J.J. Paterson, G.W. Sheppard and A. Brooke Smith, Jardine Matheson, Shanghai, to B.D.F. Beith, D.G.M. Bernard and A.B. Stewart, Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong, with enclosed letters and papers. B.D.F. Beith worked in both offices during the period covered by the ring-binder. Pencil notes on some of the letters record that they were originally enclosures to semi-official letters from Shanghai to London. A note at the front of the file records that nos 97 and 109 were cancelled. There was no letter number P.134.
Semi-official letter no. P.219 of 7 March 1928 encloses an envelope containing six photographs of the fire brigade at No. 15 Peking Road, Shanghai, following a fire in a flat occupied by George Dallas.
